I have just recently turned 25, and hosted a party to celebrate. Although I did my best to reduce material gifts, there was still the odd few. The main gift apart from a few bottles of organic red wine (my favorite!!), was clothing.
I love new clothes, and I am very grateful for the gifts I received. So I pondered how I could maintain my minimalist wardrobe whilst bringing in these new additions.
I decided that with any new item of clothing, I would simply donate an item.
1 in = 1 out. Simple. No Exceptions.
This way I am forced to keep the most valuable items. It also means I will probably end up with “high quality” items only, since all of the cheaper, less durable stuff will inevitably get weeded out.
Have you slowly let your stuff build back up after a clean-out? Keep on top of it. Use the rule. Simple.
